Not much is known about this choir, the only newspaper report seen is that contained in the 12 February 1898 issue of the Merthyr Express.

Pentwyn Choir presented on 29 January in Carmel vestry to Mrs Margretrta Philpott the accompanist of Pentwyn Choir with a gold broach for services for a dozen eisteddfodau. Presentation made by Mr Simon Evan Cole the conductor. Songs given by full members of the choir James Jones, T Davies, Joseph Shankland, Simon Evan Cole, David Cole, J M Jones and Rees Jones. Recitation by James Davies (Chairman). J Evans and Elizabeth J Evans.
